"O, say can you see?"

First of all: HAPPY BIRTHDAY, AB-FAB! Hope it's amazing. Be safe. :)

(I originally wrote 'Be sage'. So, yeah, get on that, too.)

I got my passport today! It's kind of amazing, because they said it would take three weeks, and it's only been a little over a week. :) Maybe because I'm so close to DC.

My picture is fairly dreadful (the whites of my eyes blend into my skin), but it made me feel this weird surge of patriotism to receive the passport. Sort of an odd reaction--feeling patriotic when you receive a document that allows you passage OUT of your home country. :P

My visa application goes next, and the quick receipt of my passport is a lovely relief--the visa is supposed to take FOREVS. Em, any insight?

The passport's quick delivery is just another nice reminder that God is looking out for me. :)

The rest of today will be spent eating, thrift-shopping for my Halloween costume (I'm copying one of my Mom's ideas and being a Marionette), then curling up at home and rereading the rest of Watchmen. Did you ever finish that, Ab?

What are all of you doing for Halloween? Costumes, parties, pumpkin-carving?

It's so gray and rainy here--it was surprising humid this morning, but it's cooled down a bit since then. Strong winds, too. I want to hear some thunder and see some lightning! (But only after I get home and curl up--my living room has four windows with an awesome view of the sky.)

In other news, the drama has settled between my roommates, but unfortunately for Ryan, he suffered a very, VERY painful--erm--personal injury and has been out-of-commission for a couple of days, knocked out on painkillers. (Rotated testicle. WTF.) He's doing better, but is, naturally, a little embarrassed. Poor guy.

ANYWAY. Not much else to report, but I hope you're all staying warm and happy and healthy. :)

Love you!

1) i don't know what time it is because of daylight savings, but it is late and i am not tired. fortunately, i have nothing to do tomorrow but sleep.

2) visa application: pain in the bum. the one for france was scarier, because i'd never done one before, and it involved printing out all kinds of random crap and making photocopies and then driving to dc to talk to a french person. the one for england was more annoying because it was all online and the survey went on for a thousand pages and then you had to put your passport in the mail and it disappeared into bureaucracyland for several weeks without a sound. italy is probably different from both of those...hopefully stato tranquillo? my only advice is to do it early and do it right. my life motto. but seriously, just stay organized and you'll be fine.

3) halloween, owen tells me, stops in the uk at age 12. however, we have to keep in mind that he is also a freshman with minimal knowledge of university life, and that university life involves dressing up in costumes for fancy dress bops every other weekend. i have a leopard-print dress and will probably be lame and last-minute with construction paper ears. or just notecards.

4) more important is the election night party we're having...i need to decide if i want to go as a girl in an american flag toga, minnie mouse the registered voter, or a pig in lipstick. um except i think owen already called that last one.

5) geez emily get your own blog already.

1. Is it 2am tonight? As in early Oct. 26th?

2. Agreed. I'll have to go into International Affairs to get the detils on that.

3. I was there when you got the leopard print dress! That rocks. I just got this gorgeous, and very flattering, black dress secondhand. It's a lot like the dress Blair wears in the pilot episode of GG, actually.

I'm SO excited for Halloween. Love it.

4. I spend most of my morning watching Fox and MSNBC coverage of the rallies--my Mom went to the Palin one in Beaver falls the other day. Did you see Biden's interview with the anchor on WFTV? If you haven't, look it up. That woman is my hero. :)

5. I love your long comments!
