Biblical Mysteries and our Birthright

I'm watching Biblical Mysteries on the Science Channel, and they brought up the contrast between the four traditional Gospels--Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John--and the Gnostic Gospel of Thomas.

According to this show, Thomas' Gospel indicates that we can all be "Sons of God", like Jesus was the Son of God, as opposed to the word of the Four Gospels, which says the Jesus was the only one.

I think the words of Thomas' gospel are a bit twisted here. I agree that humanity are all children of God. We are all loved equally and perfectly by God. However, we are NOT equal to Jesus.

Firstly, Jesus is God--that whole Holy Trinity thing: the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Secondly, Jesus wasn't just a guy--he was SENT to die for our sins, which none of us can attest to.

Now, if we go along with the scholarly idea that Jesus was NOT divine, I guess someone could make that argument. But, the "scholarly" hypothesis doesn't really apply to those who believe what Christianity means: that Jesus WAS divine, was sent by God to die for our sins, and did so.

So, yeah. Just felt like I wanted to clarify the difference between 'Child of God' and 'Son of God'. Kind of important.
