I gots a job!

I'm now employed at the Inner Harbor Hard Rock Cafe. Come see me! :)

In other news, well, there isn't much more to report, actually. I'm almost fully moved in to my new room! I am also jealous for missing the Penguins Parade that occurred in Pittsburgh yesterday! SO JEALOUS.

Also, I got some lovely compliments from two male friends whose opinion I hold in very high regard.  One said I was 'transformative', and both have said, in some way, that they are attracted to me (sexually AND otherwise), but if I were to have sex with them, half of their respect for me would be gone. :P I know that seems like a weird compliment for me to enjoy, but I adore it!

:D I'm weird.

Anyway, I'm off to patch some jeans and make hot chocolate--it's oddly chillsy here today!

Love you all--

-A.

I can write this because only seven people read this, and you should all know this by now if you read Em's blog.

Thisisawesomethisisawesomethisisawesome.

I missed kissing SO much.

SRSLY. This is so, so great.

I don't mean to rub it in for anyone who is not kissing--that's the last thing i want to do.

(But I really love this.)

:)

Sending some extra kisses your way,

Alyssa

SHOES. OMG SHOES.

Okay, my horror since Tuesday night has subsided.

I got SHOES. Not just any shoes. Birthday shoes. Nine West, five-inch platform Vasca pumps. Shoes that have, in fact, appeared on Gossip Girl. They are gorgeous, dahling, and I'll have pictures soon. They are the closest thing to "Fuck me" heels I've ever acquired. :)

This is a short update, I know, but there's not much else to tell.

Love you!

ETA: Me, Robin, and Robin's best friend Sam (who is visiting with his lovely girlfriend Jessie) did really well tonight at the Epic Pop Culture Battle. We got second place, which means a pint of free ice cream, $40 to the Ottobar (where I met The Doctor who blew me off. Twice.), and free bus tickets to NYC whenever we want! :) Pretty cool, if I do say so myself.

ETA2: I have a warm spot on the back of the left side of my ribcage. :)

It don't mean a thing...

I did a 6-9am shift, then fell back to sleep until 2:30 pm. Ooooops.

Marla and I went swing dancing tonight at a restaurant called The Austin Grille in Canton. It was amazing.

The lesson itself, which was for beginners, went from 8-9. I did some swing dancing with Mr. Zupan (remember him?) back in tenth grade, but not much since then. It was lacklustre--I knew most of the steps (on instructor told me to stop leading my partner--the man is supposed to lead), and some of the guys were a little creepy. But, it was short, and I refreshed myself of the basics, which is always good.

Then, at 9, more and more people started to show. And these people were good. Some were pro-level. Including one particularly infectious dancer, who was tall and lean with well-tailored pants and bones like rubber bands. He was SO cute, and awesome to watch. He only danced with girls who knew what they were doing at first, then he danced with a few beginners, then he asked Marla. I was happy, because I love her and he's cute, but I was also like "Bitch!", because I'd been making eyes at him since he'd walked in the door (in his wool herringbone overcoat, I might add. ;) ).

So, he kept dancing, and I trained my eyes on him, and Marla started noticing this REALLY familiar guy (I thought) who kept looking at her. She danced with him once and found out his name was John. I danced with him once and found out he was from out-of-state. So much for familiarity.

FINALLY, Cute Infectious Dancer asked me for a dance. I was like "Yes, absolutely." :D His name is Craig, and he's been dancing for 10 years (!!!). He didn't like grad school and decided to go dancing instead (!!!!!!!!! Note: He looks about 25. If he went to grad school 10 years ago, he's almost 35. Sheeeeeit.). He was patient with my lack of knowledge and said as long as both people are smiling and no one falls on their ass (unless it's on purpose), it doesn't matter.

At the end of the dance, he thanked me and said that he knows he gets busy, but to find him for another dance at some point. :)))))))))

Unfortunately, we left pretty shortly after, BUT, as I was leaving, I caught his eye and waved, and he did the little "I notice you" eyebrows. :P I'll see him later. ;)

Marla and I waited a little while outside of the Grille because Marla was too chicken to give John her number outright. Of course, he emerged, but he was giving his name to some girl in T-strap heels and a striped skirt. Marla was disappointed. :(

So, we got back to MICA, and visited Tiff and Paul, who were at the desk. I slip upstairs to pee, and as I descend the stairs, I see another MICA girl, Sarah, who'd been at the Grille with none other than JOHN-FROM-OUT-OF-STATE! THAT was why he'd been familiar--he was Sarah's guest, and I'd checked him out of the Commons that morning during my 6-9am shift!

Now, Marla was properly mortified, and John basically ignored us while we gaped. Now, according to his ID, he's from New Mexico, so he's definitely just visiting Sarah (who may or may not be his girlfriend). Aw, sorry Marles!

OH-KAY. Just found Craig on Facebook. Stalk time.

Love you all!

ETA: OKAY SRSLY? He's ten years older than me and he's married. WTF, world? He went to Pitt for crying out loud, and he's the Director of Music at a CHURCH. DARN YOU WORLD!

Updates from/for everyone!

I know I just updated earlier, but everyone (minus Bri) updated today, and I wanted to, too. :)

Today I woke up at 12:30--I stayed up 'til almost 7 AM--and I applied for my passport. Very successfully, as it was super easy! The lady who helped me out was wonderful, and she called me "sweetie" a lot. :D

THEN, I picked up Twilight when I got home--I started reading it on Thursday. I enjoy it, but there are pockets of text where I'm like "Bella, SRSLY. Tone down the despair and drama. You don't even know him. And you talk as though you're a novel narrator and not a real girl."

I lounged and read for a couple hours, until about 5, when Ryan showed up, and he, Betsy, Jen and I went to see Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist. (Robin is home in Pittsburgh, and I miss him. :( ) It was really cute in places, surprisingly rough in others, and disarmingly honest overall. There's this part where Nick and Norah are lying together, and she's embarrassed, and he just tells her not to be because she's beautiful, and it's AMAZING how spot-on he was. It sounded too intimate, too real. I got shivers. YOU all know how guys sound when you're both being intimate and affectionate--it was like that.

SO, then the four of us went back to our apartments and got bundled up to walk to this Turkish restaurant for dinner. I met Ryan downstairs when I was done getting my coat on. I was wearing my pink patterned coat, pink silk scarf (thank you, Drea), and my beige wool cloche, and as soon as I stepped outside he was like,

"You look really beautiful."

Me: "THANK YOU!"
Him: "You look like something out of a movie."

It was very sweet.

So, we all walked to the restaurant, which was really cool, and we sat in this raised, enclosed booth, like a puppet show stage almost, complete with curtains, and there was a belly dancer and my food tasted like glue but it was okay because Ryan paid like a gentleman. :)

We got back to the apartment, and I read a little while the others situated their movie, and right before 12, I got up to leave, and Ryan held his arms out to hug. Naturally, I restrained myself from jumping him and his hotness and hugged him like a normal human being, then Jen asked for a hug, and then I hugged Betsy after for obvious reasons.

So, let's recap: Before the movie, he said I was lovely (he's called me that multiple times the last few days), and that I have cute moments all the time (I didn't mention that before), then I was 'really beautiful', the he hugs me. Interesting.

And HAWT.

:P

Anyway, I'm trying not to fall asleep now. Time to look at mindless stuff that will make me laugh. :)

Love you all, dearly.
Alyssa

Hey guys!

Hi!

It's been awhile since I've updated, although I can't say there's much to recap.

Chase is supposed to come visit soon, in 2 weeks, I think. He called last night and wanted to talk to Robin and my roommates, which was a very pleasant little thing. They all said he seemed really nice, and he said they were great. :) I can't wait for him to meet them! I can't wait for him to get here!

That being said, we had a funny conversation about sleeping arrangements that went like this:

Chase: What are your expectations for when I get there?
Alyssa: What do you mean? (Translation: I know exactly what you mean, but you need to say it.)
C: ...
A: I want you to sleep in my bed, but I think it might be best if you sleep on the couch.
C: Me too. I was going to do that. You can just come visit me on the couch.
A: Exactly!
C: And if you happen to fall asleep there or vice-versa...
A: Right, of course.
C: We're not fooling anyone.
A: No we are not.

Is that lame? Should I be stricter?

To whoever is watching Gossip Girl:

IT'S AN ADDICTION. I'M A PATHETIC HUMAN BEING BUT I CARE DEEPLY ABOUT WHAT GOES ON IN THESE FICTITIOUS CHARACTERS' LIVES. I GIVE A (RATHER LARGE) DAMN ABOUT CHUCK AND BLAIR. (ALTHOUGH I COULDN'T GIVE A SMALLER DAMN ABOUT DAN AND SERENA), AND IT'S GOTTEN TO THE POINT WHERE JOEY V. AND I HAVE A PHONE DATE AFTER THE EPISODE ENDS. SAD.

(BUT WONDERFUL.)

Ahem. Enough of that. :)

Last night, me, Betsy. Hot!Ryan. Jen, and Robin had a blast dancing in our hallway--we had a strobe light (thanks to Betsy), and ended up taking some cool pictures (I'm sure you'll see them on Facebook in the next few days). Not to mention some amazing extended-exposure photos, tres cool.

Also, Hot!Ryan is hot.

Love you girls, and miss you!

WELL THEN.

Em, I was going to take a leaf out of your book tonight. I'll let you figure out where that was in the events of the night.

So, Letta Parker's going-away party was tonight (she enlisted in the Air Force Reserve and will be peacing out for several months). I haven't spent time at her house for many months, and I was feeling a little awkward at the outset--I don't know her circle of friends that well, although her fiancee (!) and I get along really great.

The awkwardness was mostly alleviated when I saw Dan Thompson there, who is SO tall and awkwardly cute. :) It was nice to FINALLY spend some time with Letta, even if I had to do it in the company of some people I may not like so much. *cough*Liz*coughAttentionWhore*cough*

Actually she treated me with courtesy tonight, I shouldn't be mean.

Bottom line is, Letta's older brother Jeff and I have a history from high school that begins with UST (Google it.) and ends with him wussing out on me after one kiss.

So, he is now single after a LONG relationship with a girl even younger than I am, and we were flirting a lot tonight, and we were all brushing against each other and doing the soulful, sultry looks, and at the end of the night, I thought "Hm, I can get some long-delayed smooches out of this..." So, I decided to let him drive me home. :P BUT, OF COURSE, there was car trouble (what is it about me, boys and car trouble?), and I ended up riding home with Letta/Dan M.(Letta's boy)/a few others. On my way out, Jeff hugged me, and did the cheek-kissy thing. (And Oh. My. God. He knows JUST how to touch a girl's waist.) So, I did the neck-kissy thing and we basically murmured plans to get together at each other. (I meant to type "with each other", but the typo stays. :D) So, we're going to talk tomorrow afternoon. I'll update, don't worry.

So, yes, in lieu of Dan Wolf, I'm going to be a bad girl and have makeouts with Jeff. What do you expect with all this...anxiety hanging around. ;)

I guess I was just surprised that he was into it. He totally called me gorgeous tonight. *blush* Yes, shameless self-esteem boost. Love it.

And love you all,

Alyssa

P.S. This is SO unlike me, isn't it? Rob, you can especially vouch for that, am I right?

Ink is here!

Okay, you lucky, lucky dogs.

My movie, Ink, has arrived in the mail today! And when you all get around to joining me in Sewickley (in a matter of days--hooray!!!), we can watch it. JUST US. No Lacie, no defensive parents or siblings (on my end, your siblings/parents may watch as they like), no crazy. Crazy is not allowed. Except for crazy laughter at the way I am fetishized in this film.

Getting the package was sort of magical, actually. I had forgotten that I was expecting it, I was brushing my teeth to go to bed (5:45 AM shift tomorrow), and I walked downstairs to get something, then changed my mind, and right before I was about to turn around, I saw the white square of bubble envelope, apart form all of the other mail, and I saw my name, and the return address of my producer, and I got all warm and excited (but not "sexually anxious", of course), and I rushed up to my room, and cut open the envelope, and just glowed with that feeling. That feeling of contentment. It's nice to see something come out.

I'm torn between watching it now or waiting. On one hand, I have an early shift--on the other, it is awesome.

Hmm...I'll see if mom gives a crap, then I'll decide.

Oh, and Chico's was fine. Learning a new system is always a little scary for me. I pressure myself to get things right immediately, and it's just not a good thing. I think it'll be a fun job, though. :)

Love you all,

Alyssa
